Anglers battle the elements

VIDALIA — Young anglers across the Miss-Lou hit local lakes Saturday morning and battled the elements to try to catch some trophy fish.

Rain dampened the 22nd annual Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office D.A.R.E. fishing tournament, but Sheriff Kenneth Hedrick said he was still pleased with his first tournament as sheriff.

“I was really happy with the participation we had considering the weather,” he said. “This is my first year, and it’s something we plan to keep on doing to give back to the D.A.R.E. program.”
