Even though Jefferson County had more total yards than Franklin County, Franklin County won the game 12-8 Friday night.
Jefferson County outgained Franklin County 207-141 in total yards. All of Franklin County’s yards came on the ground.
What hurt Jefferson County the most were penalties, in which it committed 21 for 180 yards.
Wade Woodcock had 14 carries for 94 yards and scored on a two-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.
Jefferson County took the lead on a 42-yard pass Darrell Ingram to Derrick Culbert. The two-point conversion was good. Franklin County then scored the final points of the game in the third quarter on a 45-yard run by Wes Hickingbottom.
Franklin County improved to 2-4 overall and 2-0 in Division 6-3A and will play Hazlehurst next Friday. Jefferson County dropped to 0-6 overall and play its homecoming game next Friday night against North Pike.
