In a game that saw four fourth quarter touchdowns, Pine Hills Academy outlasted Trinity 34-29 in Gloster Friday.

Pine Hills improved to 7-2 overall and 3-2 in MPSA District 6-A.

&uot;That was definitely the biggest win we’ve had here in a while,&uot; said Pine Hills coach Tony Johnson. &uot;It was a wonderful game with two great teams.&uot;

Trinity fell to 4-5 overall and 2-4 in district play.

Trinity scored first as William McGehee went in from three yards out. McGehee passed to John Bass for the conversion and an 8-0 lead.

Pine Hills got on the board with 6:16 remaining in the first quarter as quarterback Jonathan Honea went in from one yard out. The conversion failed.

Pine Hills took the lead late in the first half as Honea completed a 38-yard scoring pass to Jeff Whittington. The conversion failed, leaving the Wildcats with a 12-8 halftime advantage.

Chad Covey extended the Pine Hills lead midway through the third period with a 1-yard run. Steve Causey added the kick.

McGehee, who passed for 297 yards, answered with a 1-yard run and passed to Chad Ridley on the conversion to bring Trinity to within 19-16.

Trinity took the lead early in the final quarter as McGehee and Ridley combined on a 60-yard scoring play. The conversion failed.

Pine Hills regained the lead at 27-22 as Shane Lofton scored on a 49-yard run. Honea ran in the conversion with 6:22 to play. Lofton added to the Wildcat lead with a 16-yard run. Causey’s kick put the Wildcats up 34-22. Lofton finished with 158 yards on 19 carries, while Chris Guidry had 137 yards on 25 carries.

&uot;They had trouble stopping the run, so we just kept it on the ground,&uot; Johnson said. &uot;We got some breaks and took advantage of them.&uot;

Brown had six catches for 152 yards.
