Jackson Prep overcomes ACCS

Although they led at the half, the ACCS Rebels succumbed to No. 4 Jackson Prep Friday night, 46-12. The Rebels played a high intensity first half and out played the Patriots enroute to a 12-9 halftime lead.
The Rebels jumped out to a 6-3 lead in the second quarter with a touchdown pass by quarterback Ty Smith.
ACCS tried for the two point conversion and failed.
The Jackson Prep offense continued to run into a wall of Rebel defenders during their next offensive series and were forced give the ball to the Rebels.
Ty Smith was intercepted by Jackson Prep and the&160;Patriots were in business in Rebel territory. Prep would eventually score but miss the PAT.
Smith lead the Rebels on a touchdown drive to answer the Patriots points. Smith hit Lee Watts on a 33-yard pass. Watts leaped over the Prep defensive back and brought in the pass.
Two plays later, Smith found Russ Marks running free on the sideline. After that 27-yard completion, Smith hit tight end Hayden Wadsworth for the touchdown. The Rebels lead was 12-9.
The numerical superiority of Jackson Prep began to early in the third quarter. Prep continually blitzed the Rebel offense. ACCS didn’t pick up a first down until the end of the third quarter.
Offensively, the Patriots fed the Rebels a steady dose of the option play. Running back Jay Liles sprinted through the Rebel defense for two quick scores.
Liles set up a third touchdown after taking the pitch from quarterback Scott Staines.
Jackson Prep scored 37 unanswered points to run to score to 46-12.
&uot;We played so hard in the first half that we were wore out,&uot; ACCS coach Bo Swilley said. &uot;Our tired legs were no match for their fresh legs. That is the story of the game.&uot;
Swilley commented the effort of his Rebel team as they took the fight to the Patriots.
The quick second half score of Prep drained a tired Rebel team.
&uot;How long can you play on adrenaline?&uot; Swilley said. &uot;Every player played against two different guys during the game. Eleven on 11, we are a better team, not 22 on 11.&uot;
Jason Rollins paced the Rebel defense with 19 tackles. Ty Smith was 26-46 with one interception for 318 yards and two touchdowns.
