Cathedral High’s football team has a rare Thursday game this week.

The Green Wave play at Wesson Thursday because Copiah-Lincoln Community College is holding homecoming this weekend and festivities are planned for Friday night.

The Wave will have to hope Wesson will be concentrating on other festivities as the Cobras are the second-best team Cathedral has played this year.

Wesson lost to Loyd Star 3-0 in double overtime last week. Loyd Star (the best team Cathedral has played) defeated Cathedral 40-6 last month.

Cathedral needs a win to keep playoff hopes alive. Unfortunately, those hopes are dashed: Wesson 22, Cathedral 6.

Natchez High hits the long road again after falling to Wayne County last week.

Meridian has been up and down this year, while Natchez has one win.

This trip is just as long: Meridian 26, Natchez 8.

Adams County Christian School led Jackson Prep 12-9 at halftime last week before falling 46-12. That’s better than most folks have done against the Patriots.

Madison-Ridgeland is no Jackson Prep and ACCS learned a lot from that one half of football last week: ACCS&160;26, MRA&160;12.

Trinity Episcopal High lost a tough contest to Pine Hills last week and takes on a Wilkinson County Christian Academy team coming off a big 7-6 win over Silliman.

The contest in Woodville is the last one for the Saints. It’s been quite a year for Trinity, which has battled each week despite several setbacks and obstacles. The difference in this game will be the likes of senior Adam Whittington, who is consistent at center and had 10 tackles against the Wildcats last week.

The Saints end up on a high note: Trinity 28, WCCA&160;14.

No. 7 Vidalia travels to No. 5 Loyola-Shreveport in a non-division Class 2A contest. If Vidalia had beaten South Cameron in a second-round playoff game last year, these two teams would have met in the quarterfinals.

Win or lose this game will go a long way in helping the Vikings, who need a tough contest at this stage.

A win does the Vikings even more good: Vidalia 21, Loyola 14.

Ferriday High took Farmerville to overtime last week, while Block was upset by Crowville. It won’t be considered an upset this week as the Trojans go to 2-0 in the district, headed for their showdown with the Vikings next month: Ferriday 28, Block 6.

Huntington High can play spoiler to Pine Hills as the Wildcats can all but clinch a wild card. No spoiling here:&160;Pine Hills 22, Huntington 6.

Chamberlain-Hunt has been on a roll as of late and has stayed on the heels of Tri-County and Woodland Hills in division play. Losing a step: Woodland Hills 22, CHA&160;12.

Centreville vs. Silliman used to be for all the marbles. Silliman doesn’t have as many steelies nowadays: Centreville 28, Silliman 7.

Jefferson County ran all over North Pike last week. The Tigers don’t have as much luck in the county this week:&160;South Pike 29, Jefferson County 6.

Tensas Academy gets primed for the playoffs by securing its No. 2 spot:&160;Tensas 29, River Oaks 7.

Franklin County hosts homecoming and the Bulldog fans will have plenty to cheer about as the Bulldogs stay perfect in division play:&160;Franklin County 20, Port Gibson 6.
