In the Adams County District 1 supervisor’s race, experience won out.
Samuel L. &uot;Sammy&uot; Cauthen was re-elected supervisor in District 1 by a margin of 57.89 percent, or 1,486 votes to Branon Pesnell’s 41.80 percent, or 1,073 votes.
&uot;It really feels great – I can’t thank all of our supporters enough,&uot; Cauthen said Tuesday following his victory.
Cauthen, the owner of Natchez Pallet Factory, said his plans for the future will not vary greatly from his record of the past.
&uot;I’ve got the same plan for the next four years that I had for the last four,&uot; he said.
&uot;We’ve got some good things working for this economy.&uot;
Pesnell, manager of Mainstream Fitness, said he was pleased with the positive campaign he and Cauthen ran.
&uot;I enjoyed running this campaign,&uot; Pesnell said. &uot;It stayed positive and it was a great learning experience. I made a lot of friends I wouldn’t ordinarily have met.&uot;
Cauthen said he had talked with Pesnell following the race.
&uot;I talked with Branon, and I look forward to working together in the future for a better Adams County,&uot; Cauthen said.
Pesnell did not rule out future political involvement.
&uot;I congratulate my opponent,&uot; Pesnell said.
&uot;I plan to remain a strong voice regardless of the fact that I’m not a supervisor.&uot;
Pesnell said the campaign has brought him an even deeper concern for Adams County and its people.
&uot;I know what the issues are and I am a downtown businessman,&uot; he said. &uot;I plan to remain a strong voice for Adams County.&uot;
