Veterans’ groups plan parade

The Miss-Lou Veterans Alliance will host a parade in honor of Veterans Day Thursday beginning on the Broadway Street and ending at Memorial Park.
Donnie Verucchi, legislative officer for the Mississippi VFW, lives in Natchez and is a Vietnam Veteran.
He has teamed with other veterans groups in the Miss-Lou Veterans Alliance to organize a Veterans Day Parade on the Bluffs.
&uot;We’re going to have a parade start on Broadway Sreet,&uot; he said.
Veterans will gather Thursday morning at 10 a.m. with the parade starting at 10:30 a.m. from the bluff up Main Street to Memorial Park beside St. Mary Basilica.
VFW state color guard will present the colors. The VFW Auxiliary from Post 9573 plans to give small American flags to all spectators along Main Street. The grand marshal for the parade will be Brig. Gen. Virgil Nix of the Mississippi State Guard.
Christy Corley, a seventh grade honor student, will lead the Pledge of Allegiance. The Vidalia High School Band under the direction of Herbert Basset will perform during parade.
Earle Drane of American Legion Post 4 will be master of ceremonies.
This Veterans Day, the Veterans of Foreign Wars celebrate their 100th anniversary. Formed at the close of the Spanish American War, the VFW has fought to protect the interests of veterans through both World Wars and up through the Persian Gulf War.
