Callon gets top honors at Chili Cookoff

Callon Petroleum walked away with top honors in the 10th annual Broadway Bash Chili Cookoff Saturday.
&uot;We started in 1996 and have worked with the same recipe,&uot; said Angie Pace, head cook for the Callon team. &uot;The ingredients are secret&uot;.
Other members of the Callon team included Murray Williams, Phyllis Jones, Carl Knight, Mitzi Potts, and Randy Johnson.
Other top honors went to: Monogram Designs, second place; Krewe of Phoenix – Dr. David Hall, third place; Wild Buck Hunting Club, fourth place; Gardner Motors, fifth place; Co-Lin Community College, sixth place; A.B. Motors, seventh place; Corner Bar, eighth place; Wharfmaster’s Restaurant, ninth place; and Natchez Retiree Partnership, tenth place.
Gross receipts for the event totalled $4,342, and after expenses about $3,000 should go to the Natchez Children’s Home, said Walt Wilson, organizer of the event.
&uot;It has been a tremendous success,&uot; said Nancy Hungerford, director of Natchez Children’s Home. &uot;We’ve had a good location, great weather and a receptive crowd.&uot;
Wilson estimated the crowd at the event to be around 500 people.
&uot;The Main Street Marketplace was the good place to have it,&uot; Wilson said. &uot;The majority of people said they liked the location. The kids liked it better with the park across the street.&uot;
This year’s cookoff was sponsored by Copiah-Lincoln Community College-Natchez and Natchez Regional Medical Center.
