LORMAN – Under normal circumstances, a day like Alcorn State junior wide receiver Marco Walder had Saturday would gain headlines.
But when your team is 3-6 and on the 35-26 losing end of that kind of day, not a lot of people notice when you catch nine passes for 121 yards and three touchdowns.
&uot;It’s tough, but we just have to come back next week and play harder,&uot; Walder said after the Braves’ loss to Alabama A&M. &uot;Me and Ronald (Gilmore, who had six catches for 115 yards and a touchdown) were able to get open and Damion got us the ball.&uot;
Alcorn fell behind 14-0 before getting its offense going. But everytime the Braves scored, Alabama A&M answered.
&uot;We had some errors that hurt us,&uot; Walder said. &uot;We’re not going to get down on the defense because we have to pick them up the same way they have to pick us up. There’s so much love among our teammates that we’re going to stay and work together. We just have to work through this.&uot;
