Vidalia High head football coach Dee Faircloth was happy to see all hands back on deck Thursday after a few members of the team were hit with the flu bug earlier in the week.

Vidalia visits Christian Life of Baton Rouge, La., in a Class 2A regional contest. Kickoff is 7 p.m.

&uot;We’ve got all hands on deck now and we’re ready to go,&uot; said Faircloth, who was looking at Plan B of starting fullback Leren Curry at tailback in place of Dariel Mays, who was out sick. &uot;Now we’ll just have to see how this effects us.&uot;

The Vikings defeated East Beauregard 47-14 last Friday in the first round of the playoffs in Viking Stadium.

Christian Life is 8-3 on the season, defeating Westminister last week.

&uot;They’re tough and they are as big as a house,&uot;&160;Faircloth said. &uot;They have an all-state quarterback and their tight end is 6-5, 250 and I haven’t seen anybody tackle him. Our mini-backs will have to tackle him.&uot;

Vidalia jumped on East Beauregard 22-0 in the first quarter.

&uot;We need to get off to a good start again,&uot; Faircloth said.

Christian Life upset Westminister last week without starting quarterback Stefan Leflores.

&uot;We’ll still be without him, but we have an adequate backup in Michael Clayton,&uot; said Christian Life coach Terry Knox. &uot;We’ll have to control the line of scrimmage, keep the ball on the ground and try to control the tempo and clock.&uot;

Christian Life finished 8-3 last year, losing to West St. John in the first round of the playoffs.

Vidalia bowed out in the second round last year to South Cameron after routing Delhi.

&uot;Vidalia is very efficient on offense and seem very disciplined on defense,&uot; Knox said. &uot;The biggest thing that stands out is that they have 20 seniors. They are a seasoned ball club and have been through the battles. We just have to try and disrupt what they do on offense and keep the ball out of their hands.&uot;

The winner of the contest faces the winner of the Newman-Vermillion Catholic game.
