Buzzer-beater gives Natchez win

Jamal Bouldin sank a 3-point shot at the buzzer in overtime to give Natchez High an 84-81 win over Wossman at the West Monroe (La.) All State Good Hands Tournament Saturday.
The contest was tied at 75-75 at the end of regulation.
Natchez fouled a Wossman player with three seconds remaining in overtime with the Bulldogs leading 81-79.
Bulldog head coach called a time out, but the Wildcat hoopster hit the first free throw. After another time out, the second free throw was good to tie the game at 81-81.
&uot;We then ran our out of bounds play where David (Haywood) throws it to Jovon (Edwards) at midcourt and he passes it to Jamal, who nailed the three at the buzzer,&uot; Martin said.
Natchez, 5-3, led Wossman 14-12 after one period of play, but trailed 35-30 at halftime.
Natchez outscored Wossman 25-13 in the third quarter, but Wossman won the final period 27-20.
Haywood led Natchez with 27 points, followed by Bouldin with 22.
Jordache Gardner netted 25 for defending Louisiana state champion Wossman.
&uot;We have played a tough schedule so far,&uot; said Martin, whose team lost in overtime to West Monroe Thursday. &uot;But it’s going to help us down the road. We’ve had to come out and play hard every time out.&uot;
Natchez’s girls lost to West Monroe 73-63. Cristen West scored 17, while Jakeisha Hawkins added 17.
Natchez visits West Feleciana Nov. 30.
