Six-year-old Jerry Shepard of Natchez was in serious, but stable condition with head injuries Sunday night at University Medical Center in Jackson.

Shepard was injured in a two-vehicle accident on Foster Mound Road Saturday morning that left his grandparents and one other person dead.

Willie Gaines Jr. and Essie Gaines were killed instantly when their 1988 Pontiac collided with a 1997 Ford delivery truck driven by Willie Lee Day. Freddie Johnson died Saturday at Natchez Community Hospital. Day was treated and released from the hospital.
