HAYNESVILLE, La. — Taylor Prevost accounted for all four of Wilkinson County Christian Academy’s touchdowns as the Rams rolled to a 28-8 win over the Claiborne Academy Rebels Friday night.
In this crucial MAIS District 3-A (South Central A) game for both teams, WCCA did not let the long road trip from Woodville to Haynesville, La. be a determining factor. The Rams were ready for yet another tough district opponent.
Prevost threw a 53-yard touchdown pass to Jaylen Washington with 3:56 left in the first quarter. He then scored on a 3-yard run with 4:26 to go until halftime, and with intermission approaching, he connected with Dra Tolliver on a 54-yard touchdown pass to give the Rams a 21-0 lead at the break.
Prevost then scored on a 12-yard run with 4:45 left in the third quarter that gave WCCA a commanding 28-0 advantage. He was also 4-for-4 on extra points. The shutout bid ended when Alex Ruple scored on a 10-yard run with 11:52 remaining. He then scored on a 2-point conversion run.
Prevost went 9-of-10 passing for 200 yards and two touchdowns. He also had five carries for 10 yards and two touchdowns. Kaleb Sterling was WCCA’s leading rusher with 11 carries for 80 yards. Tolliver ended up with five catches for 71 yards while Washington had two receptions for 56 yards.
WCCA (4-1, 3-0) steps out of district play next Friday at 7 p.m. when the Rams travel to Heidelberg Academy.
