City crews continued to repair a broken storm drain Monday on Jefferson Street near Canal Street. Crews replaced about 18 feet of the damaged brick drain with new concrete sections and will seam the old and the new parts together today. The damaged bricks, which crews say may date back as early as the 1820s, was discovered last week while crews were checking for leaks. &uot;If those little things (the old pipes) could talk, there’s not telling what they’d say,&uot; said David Atkins, assistant city engineer. The road will remain closed until the repairs are complete, which may take until next week.
