FERRIDAY — Services for Steven Lee Lawrence, 43, of Ridgecrest, who went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, after a lengthy battle against chronic myeloid leukemia, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday with the Rev. Mack Walker officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Steven was born Sept. 18, 1969, the son of Larry and Mary Lawrence. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, watching football and NASCAR.

Steven served in the Louisiana National Guard, Unit 1087, and was a veteran of Desert Storm. Not only was he a protector of his county but also his family and friends. He left an imprint on a number of lives and will never be forgotten.

Steven was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Edna Button Short, Coy and Mary Ann Short; and paternal grandparents, Colleen Dillon, Edwin Eugene Lawrence Sr., Quenten Mathews Sr. and Annie May Mathews.

Survivors include his parents; one sister, Michelle Lawrence Garvan; one niece, Elizabeth Ann Garvan; one daughter, Natalie Waltman; three grandchildren, Madison, Brooke and Eli; and a number of family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Gary Nations, Blane Hill, Rhett Hill, Carl Fisher, Eddie Beach, Little John Maples and Randy Burks.

Honorary pallbearer will be Clyde Boling.
