FAYETTE — Services for James “Stump” Davis, 59, of Fayette, who died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pine Grove Baptist in Fayette with the Rev. Percy Turner officiating.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home in Fayette.

Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 1 p.m. until service time Thursday at the church.

Mr. Davis was born May 31, 1953, in Fayette, the son of Lee Arthur and Bernice Green Davis.

James was a 1971 graduate of Jefferson County High School and received his bachelor of science degree in agriculture from Alcorn State University in 1975. He worked for the Department of Agriculture as a grain inspector, Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company and Fidelity Tire Company as a machine operator and for Fayette Cable Company as a technician.

He enjoyed farming, welding and repairing just about anything. His hobbies were raising farm animals, breeding horses and smoking/curing meats.

James met Linda Simpson Clark 31 years ago and they were united in holy matrimony Sept. 15, 2006. Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, death’s angel entered into his room at Natchez Regional Medical Center and quietly called him away.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Lee Arthur Davis Jr.; and his grandparents, Mose and Daisy Green and Chester “Dock” Davis and Josie “Duck” Davis, all of Fayette.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Davis; one daughter, Angela Terrell and husband, Gregory, of Heidelberg; two grandchildren, Ashton and Ashlen Terrell of Heidelberg; one brother, Charles Davis of Vicksburg; four sisters, Ella Mae Doss of Harriston, Helen Hudson and Diane Hall and husband, Blake, all of Fayette, Geraldine Harris and husband, Freddie, of Natchez; one aunt, Mamie Mazique of Natchez; three stepchildren, Yokena Anderson and husband, Lionel, of Natchez, Arnold Clark Jr. and wife, Kimberly, and Tarsha Clark, all of Fayette; seven step-grandchildren, Kwamaine Clark, Teremy Clark, Daija Jones, Nichalas Clark, Arnold Clark III, all of Fayette, and Morgan Rankin of Augusta, Ga.; one brother-in-law, William Sampson Jr. and wife, Betty, of Moss Point; one goddaughter, Kimberly Doss of Fayette; and a number of other relatives and friends.
