A Monterey, La. woman was killed in a one car crash early Sunday morning on U.S. 84 just west of Ferriday, La., according to Louisiana State Police.
Colette W. Book, 42, of Ferriday was driving her 1989 Dodge van eastbound on U.S. 84 around 7:40 a.m. Sunday when it drifted off the roadway and struck a culvert, said Senior Trooper Steve Childers.
After initial impact, the van was airborne for nearly 100 feet and rolled twice after returning to the ground, Childers said.
Book was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the vehicle during the crash, he said. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers believe that driver fatigue was the cause of the crash. Childers said. He said it is not believed that any chemical substance contributed to the accident.
Funeral arrangements for Book are incomplete at Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.
