The Mississippi Private School Association All-Star Game will have a definite Natchez flavor as a coach and three players will be competing Friday at Mississippi College in Clinton.

Adams County Christian School girls coach Bruce Pickle will be coaching the South AAA-AAAA&160;squad, while Lady Rebel Laurie Ann Davis will be competing for the South.

Trinity Episcopal seniors Bobby Craig and Kris Thomson will be playing for the South A-AA All-Stars against the North A-AA team.

The girls all-star game tips off at 6 p.m., while the boys A-AA game is slated for 4:30 p.m.

Craig averaged 21.7 points a game and made a team-high 93 3-pointers. He made 69.3 percent of his free throws.

&uot;We need to put on a good showing for a chance to get looked at, but it’s even more about just having fun,&uot; Craig said. &uot;It’s an honor to be considered one of the top 12 players from the South.&uot;

Thomson will be playing point guard after averaging 20.3 points and dishing out a team-high 125 assists.

Thomson also led the Saints in rebounds with 6.74 per game.

&uot;I was surprised I made it,&uot; Thomson said. &uot;I’m still disappointed about not making the Overall State Tournament because we had so much fun there last year, so this will be a good opportunity to play in another game.&uot;

Thomson, a foreign exchange student from Australia, joined the Trinity team last year. &uot;It’s like I had two senior years, so I’m ready to move on,&uot; he said. &uot;This is a good opportunity to be looked at by coaches and maybe get a scholarship.&uot;

Davis also sees the all-star game as an opportunity to be looked at by college coaches.

&uot;It’s an honor and it’s something I’ve worked hard for,&uot; she said. &uot;This gives people who haven’t seen you play a chance to see what you’ve got.&uot;

Davis, who averaged 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Lady Saints, said she plans to work harder on her speed and quickness.

&uot;It’s going to be fun playing with a team of all-stars,&uot; she said. &uot;It will be good to see how well you match up with them.&uot;

Davis said she is treating the game as a reward and is not worrying so much about playing her best game.

&uot;If you put pressure on yourself, you don’t play as well,&uot; she said. &uot;I’m just going to enjoy it.&uot;

Pickle coached in an all-star contest when he was at Rebul.

&uot;You want it to be an enjoyable experience for all of the players,&uot; Pickle said. &uot;You want them to be organized and play with a lot of effort. It will be fun coaching girls you went up against during the year and getting to know the four or five you don’t know.&uot;
