&uot;We’ve still got to cut down on our fielding mistakes,&uot; Green Wave head coach Ken Beesley said.

The mistakes that Beesley spoke of were the five errors that Cathedral made in the game, three of which came in the first inning alone.

Cathedral took a 4-0 lead in the first inning.

Ben Eidt led off with a single, and scored on a towering Edwards double that nearly cleared the fence.

&uot;I&160;was really seeing the ball well tonight,&uot;&160;Edwards said. &uot;I was keeping my shoulder up a lot better tonight, which kept me from popping everything up.&uot;

Stephen Bush grounded into an error, Casey Rodgers was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, and Josh Torrey walked to account for the other first inning Cathedral runs.

The Bulldogs would answer in the bottom of the first with three runs of its own. Shane Guinn rapped an RBI single and he was followed by a Ben Huffman suicide squeeze and a Green Wave error allowed the third run of the inning to cross the plate.

&uot;We jumped out way ahead, but we let them get right back into it with our inconsistency on defense,&uot;&160;Beesley said.

Harrisonburg scored three runs in the bottom of the second.

The Green Wave answered with three runs in the top of the third.

Rodgers reached on an error, Torrey singled, Eidt had a sacrifice fly. The big blow came with two outs, when Edwards ripped a 1-2 pitch back up the middle which brought home two more runs.

&uot;I&160;just got a good pitch to hit and I was able to handle it well,&uot;&160;Edwards said.

With the score tied at eight in the final at-bat for Cathedral, Jeremi Hardy walked, and scored the go-ahead run on an Edwards bases loaded walk, which put the game away for the Green Wave.

&uot;I&160;was really pleased with the offense tonight,&uot;&160;Beesley said.

&uot;I&160;wasn’t surprised by Charlie’s (Norris) performance tonight, because I’ve seen what he can do in practice, and he’s continuing to improve.&uot;

Norris allowed five hits, and struck out three en route to his complete game victory. Lee Cater took the loss.

Norris was 2-for-3 for the Wave, and Bush missed a home run by inches, and came away with a double in the contest.

&uot;We play Jena Saturday, and we played them earlier this year, and beat them by one run,&uot;&160;Beesley said. &uot;But, I’m sure this one will be even harder, because earlier, they didn’t have four of their starters, so I&160;expect a good game.&uot;

In the first game, Pat Willis doubled twice and Nathan Sharbano had two singles to help the Giants to the win.

Natchez High will take on Vidalia today at 5:30 p.m. and Springhill will tangle with Rapides immediately following.
