It’s become an annual tradition for Vidalia High head coach Johnny Lee Hoffpauir – adjusting his baseball tournament bracket. Just when it seemed Hoffpauir may have been able to get a complete tournament in because of a long dry spell, a thunderstorm rolled through the area Saturday afternoon and rained out two games.
&uot;We’ll test the field and go from there,&uot; Hoffpauir said.
Harrisonburg did defeat Winnsboro 5-1 before the rains hit.
The new schedule devised by Hoffpauir and Cathedral coach Ken Beesley has Springhill facing Rapides at 1 p.m.
At 3 p.m., Vidalia will meet Natchez.
The losers of those two games will meet at 5 p.m., while the winners will meet at 7 p.m.
On Sunday, Cathedral, which beat Harrisonburg Thursday, will face Jena at 2 p.m.
Jena beat Winnsboro Thursday.
The winner of the first game Sunday will face the winner of the Saturday’s final game Sunday at 4 p.m.
All games will be five inning contests.
&uot;We’re trying to salvage something out of it,&uot; Hoffpauir said. &uot;Everybody has been real cooperative.&uot;
Hoffpauir said catfish plates will be sold for $4 each and there will also be hot dogs, hamburgers and a complete concession stand.
