Hunter Dale pitched a one-hitter to lead Trinity’s varsity team to a 10-0 win over Huntington Friday. The game was called after five innings because of threatening weather right after Trinity scored its 10th run of the game.

&uot;I was glad to get the game in,&uot; said Trinity head baseball coach David King. &uot;I’m glad that we got the rain, but I was hoping that we could have played the entire game.&uot;

Dale, the winning pitcher, had a no-hitter through three innings when Huntington third baseman Barrett Kiser hit a single to break it up.

&uot;Hunter had a good game,&uot; King said. &uot;When you allow just two walks and one hit you’re going to win a lot of games. (Trinity catcher) Chase Brown had a good game behind the plate.&uot;

Two other Huntington batters reached first on a walk and another reached first on a Trinity error.

Trinity left fielder Cole Brown had a single, walked three times and scored on three wild pitches.

Dale also had two singles, one which drove in two runs in the second inning, and scored three times.

One of Dale’s runs occurred when he stole home in the fourth inning.

First baseman William McGehee walked, stole second and third bases and scored on a Huntington error.

With two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning, center fielder Bobby Craig was hit by a pitch, stole second, reached third on a wild pitch and scored on another Huntington error when the game was called.

&uot;With a young team with four eighth-graders, it’s good to get a win against a well-coached Huntington team,&uot; King said.

&uot;It was an overall good win. To be 2-0 with this young team is real good.&uot;

Trey Mason suffered the loss for Huntington, allowing six runs on four hits, striking out four and walking four in 1 1/3 inning.

Will Moak allowed three runs on no hits, struck out three and walked three in 1 2/3 inning. Kiser allowed one run on no hits, struck out four and walked one in 1 2/3 inning.

Trinity, 2-0, hosts Brookhaven Academy starting with the junior varsity game at 12 p.m. followed by the varsity game at 1 p.m.
