ACCS gets win over Patriots

Adams County Christian School jumped ahead of Jackson Prep 8-1 and held off the Patriots for a 10-8 win in Jackson Tuesday.
&uot;This was a big win,&uot; said AC coach Chad Lipscomb of the Rebels’ South AAAA opener. &uot;Jason (Wimberly) and Christopher (Rayborn) both did a good job on the mound and our bats finally woke up.&uot;
Jackson Prep pulled to within 8-7 in the sixth inning.
&uot;They got a couple of bloop hits and we made a couple of errors,&uot; Lipscomb said. &uot;But otherwise we had some outstanding defensive plays on the night.&uot;
Hayden Wadsworth homered and doubled, while Lee Watts also homered.
Ryan Davis, Robby Powell and Russ Marks had two singles each. Ty Smith added a double.
Cathedral upends Wesson
Cathedral High scored two runs in the second and three in the fifth to key a 6-4 win at Wesson in a Division 6-2A contest.
Cathedral improved to 8-6 overall and 2-0 in division play.
Stephen Bush picked up the win, while Charlie Norris got the save.
Bush had two singles and a double, while Stephen Edwards and Norris doubled and singled. Key Smith added two singles and Casey Rodgers doubled.
Trinity falls to Centreville
Centreville Academy followed up a win over ACCS with a defeat of Trinity 12-7.
J. T. Sanders picked up the win, while Hunter Dale had the loss.
Walt Ketchings had two doubles and a single for Trinity, while Elliot Meng singled and tripled and Gregory Ketchings had two singles.
