Between school work and church activities 10-year-old Vantisha Robinson is a busy individual who cares about other young people.
Dana Dent, Robinson’s teacher at Morgantown Elementary School, sees her fourth-grade student as someone always reaching for her goals.
&uot;She’s very studious. She has focus,&uot;&160;Dent said. &uot;She has goals and tries to reach her goals.&uot;
In addition to being an honor roll student, Robinson takes part in Girl Steppers, a dance group at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.
She also sings in the church’s youth choir and participates in Morgantown’s after school anti-tobacco program. The program, known as TABOO encourages students to avoid products such as cigarettes, chewing tobacco and alcohol, Robinson said.
The students learn about the sickness associated with these substances.
&uot;I think the TABOO program is a good thing for the kids at Morgantown because we should learn things at a younger age before we grown up and do them.&uot;
Robinson’s favorite sport is basketball and her favorite subject in school is math. &uot;I like to learn about new things,&uot; she said.
Robinson hopes to attend college and become a nurse like her aunt. &uot;The way she talks about it, it seems like a real cool job and I (would) like to help people in certain ways,&uot; she said.
Robinson is the daughter of Kenny Robinson Sr. and LaJune Robinson.
