Key games postponed due to rain

Three key district contests were pushed back because of wet grounds Friday. Cathedral’s baseball game at Loyd Star will be played today following a 1 p.m. junior varsity contest, while Adams County Christian School will make up its doubleheader at Madison-Ridgeland Academy on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Cathedral and Loyd Star will be playing for the right to advance to the Class 2A playoffs.

St. Andrews finished first with two losses, one to Cathedral and the other to Wesson.

&uot;This just gives us both an extra day to rest our pitchers,&uot; said Cathedral High coach Ken Beesley. &uot;We were looking forward to playing tonight (Friday). I think we were ready to play. But I don’t think it’s going to have that big an effect. The kids know what this game means and I don’t anticipate us having any problem getting fired up.&uot;

ACCS&160;defeated MRA&160;here Tuesday. The Rebels trail Parklane by one game in the South AAAA. MRA is a game-and-a-half behind ACCS.

Both schools are holding proms today and have junior varsity district track meets Monday.

ACCS baseball game against Huntington on Tuesday has been cancelled.

Vidalia High is playing Crowville today at 3 p.m. in Crowville in a makeup contest in a battle of unbeaten district teams.

Trinity hosts Presbyterian Christian in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m., while Natchez is playing at McComb at noon in a junior varsity and varsity game.

Cathedral was scheduled to play at McComb after Natchez, but that game has been cancelled.

Natchez High clinched second place in its district and play at Gulfport Thursday.

The Bulldogs will host Gulfport Saturday at 2 p.m.
