Cathedral High’s Brandon Gremillion and Scott McLemore claimed second places at the Class 1A-2A state powerlifting meet at Forest Hill High in Jackson Friday.

Patrick Biglane placed fifth in the 123-pound division.

Gremillion, who won South State in the 114-pound division, finished second to St. John’s Jesse Hill.

Gremillion squatted 209.25, benched 143.25 and deadlifted 292.75 to finish at 644.75.

McLemore, who finished second in the 132-pound division at South State, squatted 236.75, benched 170.75 and deadlifted 314.25 for a 722.75 total. David Lindorfor of St. John’s won that division.

Biglane, who was second in the 123-pound at South State, squatted 242.5, benched 170.75 and deadlifted 308.5 to finish at 722.75. Baldwyn High had the top lifter Friday.

&uot;Last year we only had one go, so we’ve come a long way,&uot; said Cathedral coach Craig Beesley. &uot;I felt like we did real well and gave a good showing. I think we can continue to do well if the kids stay interested. Having three go as far as these three did should create a little more interest.&uot;
