Drug raids net 21 arrests in parish

VIDALIA, La. – Six months of undercover work by Concordia sheriff’s and police departments resulted in the arrests of 21 people, most on drug charges, during pre-dawn raids conducted Wednesday by the parish’s Drug Task Force.

&uot;This is just one more battle in the ongoing war on drugs in this parish,&uot; said Sheriff Randy Maxwell, who dubbed the raids Operation Spring Clean. &uot;If you’re going to do dope, you better move on or you’re going to do time.&uot;

The raids began at 5 a.m. and were conducted in Vidalia, Ferriday, Monterey, Clayton and Wildsville.. The raid went smoothly, according to Maxwell and narcotics Investigator Mitch Price.
