VIDALIA — Services for Wanzie Lee Sproles, 89, of Vidalia, who died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Ferriday, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sycamore Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Cullum and the Rev. Mack Walker officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Sproles was born Nov. 9, 1922, in Mississippi, the daughter of Dave and Ethel Ashley. She retired from Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company and was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church.
Mrs. Sproles was preceded in death by her husband, Luther “L.C.” Charles Sproles Sr.; her parents; one son, Luther Charles Sproles Jr.; one granddaughter, Lee Ann Sproles; one brother, Melvin Ashley; and one sister, Lela Ashley Buckles.
Survivors include one grandson, Bo Sproles and wife, Sarah, of Ferriday; two granddaughters, Johnette McCann and husband, Vick Cerventes, of Dallas and Jessica McCann of Dubach, La.; one brother, Robert Earl Ashley of Natchez; two great-grandsons, Ryan Landers and Jayden Ivey; and three great-granddaughters, Lauren Ashley Sproles, Rylee Sproles and Angela Landers.
Pallbearers will be Robert Earl Ashley, Jamie Cambell, Melvin Cambell, James Thomas, Lynn McNemar, John Seyfarth, Ronald Whittington and Ray Cater.
Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Chellett, Jack Cupit, Carl Dunn, James Girard, Roger Calkins, Wesley Taylor and her co-workers from Armstrong Tire.
