City voters go to polls Tuesday

Natchez voters have the chance Tuesday to decide four aldermen races and choose the Democratic nominee for the mayoral and city clerk’s races.
The winners of the Democratic primary in both the mayor’s race and city clerk’s race faces competition from independent candidates in the June 6 general election.
A runoff is possible in both of those races if one candidate does not receive a majority of the votes. A runoff is scheduled May 16.
But all candidates in the four contested aldermen races are Democrats, so the winners in those races will be decided Tuesday.
Candidates for mayor in the primary are Larry L. &uot;Butch&uot; Brown, John &uot;Pulley Bone&uot; Pullen and F.L. &uot;Hank&uot; Smith The winner of that race faces independent Robert F. Costa in the June 6 general election.
Candidates for city clerk in the primary are Billy Geoghegan, Donnie Holloway and Fredericka Cain Todd.
The winner of that race faces independent JoeAnne Hicks in the general election. Current City Clerk Frances Trosclair announced in January that she would not seek reelection to a third term.
Alderman races are:
Ward 1 — incumbent Joyce Arceneaux and Gail Jenkins Healy.
Ward 2 — James &uot;Ricky&uot; Gray and incumbent George Harden.
Ward 4 — Joe Eidt III&160;and incumbent Theodore &uot;Bubber&uot; West.
Ward 5 — Art Fesmire and incumbent David Massey.
In-office absentee voting for the primary ended Saturday at the city clerk’s office, but the deadline for the return of mail-out absentee ballots is 5 p.m. Monday.
