FORT WAYNE, Ind. — A private family service for Mary A. Magley, 82, of Fort Wayne, Ind., who died Monday, Sept. 3, 2012, surrounded by family, will be Saturday in Bluffton, Ind., followed by burial at Fairview Cemetery.
There will also be a service in Natchez in the near future.

Arrangements are under the direction of The Thoma/Rich, Chaney & Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton.
Mrs. Magley was born Aug. 13, 1930, in Iuka, the daughter of John Howell Scruggs Sr. and Natalie Marie (Couillard) Scruggs-Lucombe. She was a graduate of St. Joseph Catholic School in Natchez.
It was at the Marine Corps Headquarters in Washington, D.C., that she met and married Richard K. Magley. They lived there for three years before they moved to Fort Wayne where they raised their family and lived for the last 57 years.
Mrs. Magley’s faith was very important to her and she was a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church for 57 years, where she enjoyed attending mass. Her love and faith was an example to everyone who knew her. Just as James D. Freeman stated, “The light of God surrounds me. The Love of God Enfolds me. The Power of God Protects me. The Presence of God watches over me. Wherever I am, God is.”
Mrs. Magley was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, William Lucombe; her loving husband, Richard; two brothers, John and Thomas Scruggs; and one daughter-in-law, Janice Magley.
She was a loving mother to three sons, Richard A. Magley and Keith A. Magley, both of Fort Wayne, and John K. Magley and wife, Tanya, of Houston, Texas; a caring and nurturing grandmother to seven grandchildren, Courtney Paige and Parker Magley, Stephanie and Carolyn Magley and Christopher and Katie Magley; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Harriet Wingfield and husband, Alan, of Natchez and Melanie Shereb of San Antonio, Texas.
