Two separate car accidents killed two people and injured two others in the Miss-Lou this weekend.
Brenda Crawford, 48, of 272 Boyd Road in Choudrant, La., was pronounced dead at the scene following a four-vehicle accident that happened at 6:57 p.m. Saturday on U.S. 61 six miles north of Woodville. Her husband, 63-year-old Joseph Crawford, was driving the couple’s 2000 Dodge pickup at the time of the accident. He was seriously injured and was transported to Natchez Regional Medical Center, according to the Highway Patrol.
As of Sunday afternoon, troopers were still investigating details of the accident and its cause. Woodville resident Nancy Netterville, 52, who was driving a 1995 Ford involved in the accident, received minor injuries.
According to the Highway Patrol, Netterville was also transported to Natchez Regional, although hospital personnel said only one person involved in the accident was brought to that hospital. Others involved in the accident included Vernon Poirrier, 58, of Gonzales, La., who was driving a 1991 Freightliner 18-wheeler that sustained heavy damage, and Jack Youssephochli, 56, of 3802 Lake Road in Baton Rouge, La., who was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Suburban that received minor damage.
Then at 1:08 a.m. Sunday, 41-year-old Walter D. Reynolds of Route 2, Box 111 in Fayette, died when his 1993 Chevrolet ran off the road and hit a culvert after he apparently fell asleep at the wheel.
The accident happened on Mississippi 553 at Harriston. Reynolds was the only person in the vehicle and was not wearing his seat belt, according to the Highway Patrol.
