David New uses ‘great comeback’ to win

David New fought back from a 7-2 deficit by scoring three runs in the third and four in the fourth for a 9-7 win over Quality Glass Tuesday in a Dixie Youth 9-10 game at Ballew-Bowlin Field at Duncan Park.
In other Dixie Youth action, B&K defeated Huber Construction 2-1.
Cole Bradford came out on top of a pitcher’s duel.
Losing pitcher Corey Walker only allowed one hit, as did Bradford, however, B&K came out the victors.
&uot;What a great comeback,&uot; said David New coach Dave Easom.
&uot;We played with true heart. We just decided to hit the ball well.&uot;
Clint Easom tied the score at seven with a fielder’s choice and Chad Smoot clinched the game with a two-run triple, both with two outs.
&uot;I tied it up,&uot; Clint Easom said. &uot;It felt awesome. It finally felt good to win with all the hard work.&uot;
&uot;It was great,&uot; Smoot said about the triple. &uot;I’ve never hit a game-winner before.&uot;
Relief pitcher Kevin Arnold pitched a strong 1 2/3 inning for the win, allowing no runs and no hits, striking out two and walking four.
Quality Glass jumped to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
The highlight of the inning was when Garrett scored when Freeman doubled.
Freeman scored on a wild pitch.
David New scored two runs in the bottom of the second.
Quality Glass then struck back with three runs of its own in the top of the third.
David New then answered with three runs of its own in the bottom of the third as Clint Easom, Chad Easom and T. J. Johnson scored on two Quality Glass errors to cut the David New lead to 7-5.
Arnold then walked three straight batters in the top of the fourth, but two were thrown out.
The drama then continued for David New in the bottom of the fourth.
Daniel Arnold singled and later scored on a Jeb White walk. Andrew White reached first and scored on Easom’s game-tying fielder’s choice.
