First Friday goes festive this week

The time has changed and it is now dark when the majority of us get off from work.
In some cities that would be a recipe for boredom. But not Natchez!
Christmas in downtown Natchez is filled with bright lights, holiday caroling and fun events for the entire family.
Local residents and business owners have come together to make Natchez a city on the “must see” list for the holiday season.
This past Friday, Downtown Natchez had a festive tree lighting ceremony which brought out a diverse group of holiday families. Well, the fun does not stop there.
In addition to everything else that is going on, Natchez Downtown Development Association is pleased to present the last First Friday weekend of the year.
Starting at 5 p.m. on Friday, you can enjoy the cast of the Natchez Little Theatre’s “A Natchez Christmas Carol” singing Christmas melodies in front of the Christmas tree.
After getting into the holiday spirit, you can come inside the Natchez Historic Foundation to warm up and watch two free, family classic Christmas films featuring a Grinch on the rampage to ruin Christmas for all the Who’s in Who-ville, and then Clark Griswald will show you all the things not to do during your Christmas vacation.
As always, the movie is completely free to the public and snacks will be available for purchase. Bring the family and the hot cocoa will be waiting for all.
Let’s not forget about all the downtown restaurants and shops staying open late with discounts and sales for your enjoyment.
The weekend continues on Saturday with the Natchez Christmas parade beginning at 6 p.m.
It’s First Friday weekend, brought to you by Natchez Downtown Development Association. For more information, call 601-442-2929.
