THS banking on injury-free season

Small in number, small in size. That’s something Trinity Episcopal head football coach David King has become accustomed to. But he still finds reason to be optimistic.
&uot;We’re going to have about 14 players and our line is going to average about 160 pounds, but we’ve got a good group of seniors,&uot; King said.
King had 12 players working at an abbreviated spring workout.
One of the main reasons for the workout was to give junior Chad Ridley a chance to run the offense at quarterback. Ridley played wingback last year, but was moved to quarterback with the graduation of William McGehee.
&uot;Chad is a fine athlete, but it’s a new position for him,&uot; King said.
But he knows the key to the season will be lack of injuries, something he has not had good fortune with in the past.
&uot;William Foley and Kellen Jex are both coming back from knee injuries and they have to be healthy for us this year,&uot;&160;King said.
King said Trinity will go more to an option style with Ridley replacing McGehee.
&uot;William put three years into throwing the football, but Chad won’t be able to throw as much,&uot; he said. &uot;He’ll be more of a scrambler.&uot;
King said the Saints will have one of the toughest schedules in the state.
&uot;I think we’ll have the second toughest single-A schedule in the state next to Amite School Center,&uot; he said. &uot;We play triple-A and double-A teams.&uot;
&uot;We just have to stay away from the injury bug,&uot; King said.
