NATCHEZ — Services for Jo Wilson Pyron, 94, who peacefully departed this life Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, in Ridgeland, will be at 3 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Natchez.
Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Monday at the church.
Mrs. Pyron was born May 3, 1918, in Westville, Okla., the daughter of George Woodrow Wilson Sr. and Josephine Miller Wilson. She was a graduate of Fordyce High School in Fordyce, Ark., and a graduate of Fayetteville Business College in Fayetteville, Ark. Jo moved to Natchez to accept a position as an executive assistant at Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company.
As a lifelong Baptist, Jo was a member of Natchez First Baptist Church for more than 50 years where she served as director of the junior department and the adult department of Sunday school. A member of the Natchez Garden Club, Jo worked tirelessly to promote and support her beloved Natchez. She truly exemplified the consummate genteel Southern lady.
Jo Wilson Pyron lived for her faith in Christ, her family and her friends. She personified the wife of noble character in Proverbs 31.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne D. Pyron; two brothers, Barron D. Wilson and George W. Wilson Jr.; and one sister, Vera Wilson Sager.
Survivors include one daughter, Dixie Pyron Davis; one son, Jerry Wayne Pyron and wife, Becky Thomas Pyron; two grandsons, James Charles Taylor Jr. and wife, Sherry, and Derek Dotson Pyron; two granddaughters, Jobeth Taylor Slatten and Phebe Pyron Martin and husband, Eric; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Billy Pyron, Bernie Pyron, Larry Dunaway, Lynwood Easterling, George Robert Wilson and Gene Wilson.
Honorary pallbearer will be Jack Benson.
Memorials may be made to Natchez First Baptist Church or Trinity Episcopal Day School.
