CANNONSBURG — Services for Levater Hayes White, 60, of Fayette, who died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at River Region Medical Center, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Cannonsburg with the Rev. Percy Turner officiating.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home in Fayette.

Visitation for sorority members only will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Sunday visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time at the church.

Mrs. White was born Nov. 17, 1951, in Holmes County, the daughter of Chester Hayes and Fannie Alma Baker. She was an educational specialist with Jefferson County Public School.

Mrs. White received her bachelor of science degree in business from Jackson State College and a master’s degree in elementary education from Jackson State University; her educational specialist degree from Alcorn State University and a library of science degree from the University of Southern Mississippi.

Mrs. White was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and served as a deaconess, a member of the combined choirs, the food ministry, Sunday school teacher, Fayette Garden Club, Phi Delta Kappa, AKA Zeta Delta Omega Chapter, and a Charter Member of the Natchez Chapter of the Links, Inc.

Mrs. White was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Nora Petty.

Survivors include her husband, Samuel L. White Sr.; two sons, Sterling L. White of Jackson and Samuel L. White Jr. of Fayette; one daughter, Shauna L. Powell and husband, Lakendrick, of Terry; one nephew, Juan Gray Sr. and wife, Latrina, of Terry; one brother, Chester Hayes Jr. and wife, Lenora, of Calumet Park, Ill.; four sisters, Mozella Fleming of Milestone, Carmilla Hunt and husband, Eddie, of Calumet, Bernice Wilkins and husband, Wendell of Dalton, Ill., and Patricia Jackson and husband, Sampson, of Preston; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Brother Rho Epilson Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
