Youth baseball teams in and around the Miss-Lou area have a full schedule over the next month.
The Dixie Youth 9-10 Confederate League earned the right last week to play host to the state tournament July 22 by defeating the Rebel League in a best of three series.
The state tournament will be held at Duncan Park.
Barnes feels that there are some advantages to hosting state, but there are also some disadvantages.
&uot;Well, it’s kind of bad when you can’t find anyone to practice against, like in practice games,&uot; Barnes said.
&uot;The up-side to hosting is the fact that we can just sit back and take it easy, let some injuries heal, until the tournament starts.&uot;
The Rebel League will begin play in the sub-district tournament July 7 at Claiborne County.
If the Rebel League wins the sub-district tournament, it would then go on to play in the district tournament, which is being held in Brookhaven.
The Vidalia Dixie Youth 9-10 All-Stars will begin its tournament play Saturday in Jonesville, La.
As for the Dixie Youth 11-12 All-Stars, the Natchez Wallace and Ace Adams League All-Stars will tangle in a one game city championship tonight.
Regardless of the outcome, both teams will be playing in the sub-district tournament, which will be played at Duncan Park in Natchez beginning July 7.
The district tournament will follow at either Pine Hills or Franklin County beginning July 21.
The state tournament will be played in Laurel, beginning July 31.
The Vidalia 11-12 All-Stars will begin play on July 10 at its district tournament.
The 14-year old Natchez Dixie Boys All-Stars will be hosting the district tournament, which will begin July 8.
