VIDALIA — A Vidalia woman was behind bars Tuesday after undercover narcotics agents uncovered a homemade methamphetamine laboratory operated from her house.

Olla Elizabeth Johnson, 54, 146 Ron Road, was booked at the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office on charges of manufacturing and creating a clandestine lab, distribution of scheduled II substance, possession with intent to distribute scheduled II substance, possession of scheduled IV substance and probation hold from another state.

Chief Deputy David Hedrick said undercover agents from the Concordia Parish Narcotics Task Force received information Monday night of a possible methamphetamine operation being operated from the Vidalia house.

At approximately 11:30 p.m., the undercover agents entered the Ron Road house and found the homemade laboratory along with several batches of crystal methamphetamine that were recently cooked, Hedrick said.

The agents recovered 3 grams of methamphetamine from the bust, which Hedrick said has an approximate street value of $300.

“These labs are extremely dangerous, so it was absolutely necessary to investigate,” Hedrick said. “The labs can produce a lot of meth, so it was our main goal to recover the equipment and get the drugs off the streets.”

No bond was set for Johnson as of Tuesday evening.
