The Natchez Ace Adams League All-Stars are hoping that the third – and fourth – times are the charm, as it advanced to finals against the Natchez Wallace League All-Stars.

The Ace Adams League eliminated Franklin County from Dixie Youth 11-12 Sub-District Tournament play with a come-from-behind 7-5 victory at Duncan Park Monday.

In doing so, the Ace Adams League has earned the chance to go up against their Wallace League rivals for a third, and possibly a fourth, time.

&uot;I can’t wait. I just can’t wait to play them tomorrow night (tonight),&uot;&160;said an eager Ace Adams All-Star Mark Hamelin.

Ace Adams head coach Gus Perry equals Hamelin’s enthusiasm, but with a more cautious tone.

&uot;Everybody’s really looking forward to playing them (the Wallace League) again, but at the same time, we know it’s going to be tough. We know that,&uot;&160;Perry said.

Franklin County jumped out of the gate quickly Monday night, as Cody Jones knocked a two-run home run, his second of the tournament, over the fence, which staked his team to a 2-0 advantage.

After Jones blanked Natchez in the bottom of the first, Nathan Oliver reached on an error, Preston Griffith singled, and Ben Myers walked to load the bases.

Carlton Rollins followed with a bases-clearing triple, which put his team up 5-0.

&uot; The kids got kind of down on themselves after the first one-and-a-half innings, but once we started hitting the ball, their attitudes changed,&uot;&160;Perry said.

Ramardo Thomas got Natchez on the board in the bottom of the second inning with an RBI-single.

Adam Dollar was then sent to the mound for Natchez, and he shut down the previously almost unstoppable Franklin County offense.

&uot;Adam dug deep tonight,&uot;&160;Perry said. &uot;We were going to watch him close tonight, and at the first sign of fatigue we were going to take him out, but he showed us something tonight.&uot;

Travis McCready reached on an error and Blain Floyd walked, which set up two runs on an error off the bat of Michael Chatman in the third.

&uot;Adam is one of the youngsters on the team, and he really kept them off balance and at bay so we could get back into the dugout and start hitting again,&uot;&160;Perry said.

Natchez’s come-from-behind bid began in the bottom of the fifth on consecutive walks by Alex Middelton and Thomas.

Jason Calcote singled in one run, which tied the game, and Floyd brought home Calcote and McCready, who had walked, with a two-run double.

&uot; The bottom of our lineup really did the job for us tonight,&uot;&160;Perry said.

Dollar only faced on batter over the minimum in the final four innings to earn the win.

Franklin County threatened for a comeback bid of their own with runners on first and second and one out, but it was thwarted by an unassisted double play by Matt Goss, who stepped on third and threw to first base for a game-ending double play.

The Ace Adams League will face the Wallace League at 6 p.m. tonight, and if necessary, again at 8 p.m.
