Confederates pull out 10th-inning win

The Natchez Confederate League 9-10 All-Stars came up with one run in the top of the 10th inning Sunday night to stay alive in the 9-10 Taco Bell AAA&160;Dixie Youth State Tournament, eliminating Columbus by a score of 5-4.
The game lasted more than three hours and saw a combined total of 21 men left on base.
Natchez got the scoring started in the top of the second inning, when Jemez Logan reached on an error with the bases loaded which allowed one run to score.
Columbus scored its first run on an error as well when Spencer Long reached first base which tied the score at one.
Natchez would answer in the top of the fourth inning with three runs.
They would load the bases again, and Ross Smith accounted for one of the runs as he walked with the bases loaded, and a two-base error hit by Jesse Morrison allowed the two other runs to score which made it 4-1.
Sam White made the score 4-3 in favor of Natchez in the bottom of the fifth inning when he brought home two runs with a double and he was followed by an RBI double by Long.
Columbus would load the bases in the bottom of the ninth inning with only one out, and would fail to score as winning pitcher Parker Brumfield induced a flyout and strike out.
Luke Brumfield provided the heroics for Natchez when after a Ross Smith single he belted an RBI double to left field, which scored the go-ahead run.
Columbus put two runners on in the bottom of the tenth, but Parker Brumfield struck out the final batter to earn the win.
In the Franklin County-Hattiesburg game, Hattiesburg defeated Franklin County despite only having three hits.
East Central will take on Cleveland tonight at 7 p.m. at Carroll-Jones, and Philadelphia will play Franklin County at 6 p.m. at Ballew-Bowlin Field, and Natchez will play Carthage at 8 p.m. at Ballew-Bowlin.
