MARSHALL, Texas – The Natchez 11-12 Wallace All-Stars continued their undefeated post season with a 6-0 win over South Carolina-Columbia Tuesday night in Marshall.

Cory Walker went the distance for Natchez, recording 7 strikeouts.

Natchez earns a bye today in the tournament and plays again Thursday at 8 p.m. against the winner of the North Carolina versus Texas game.

After the North Carolina – Texas game today there will only be four teams left in the tournament.

To win it all, Natchez will have to win three more games, according to Natchez head coach David New Jr.

Natchez jumped out ahead early with timely base running and passed balls by the Columbia battery.

A Benji Maher single scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the first inning. Maher later scored on a passed ball.

Natchez added one more run in the bottom of the first ,and then the scoring stopped until the fifth inning.

Timmy Foster added one of Natchez three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning on a double that plated Benji Maher.

Foster scooped up a grounder in the top of the sixth inning to record the final out of the game.

New said good pitching from Foster and solid play from the infield was the key to victory.

&uot;The defense played a real good game,&uot; New said. &uot;They made some real good plays.&uot;

New said he plans to spend the off day with the team in Longview to &uot;let them see the sights.

&uot;We’ll get some hitting in first then go to Longview — Find some games for them to play or something.&uot;

At the plate, Cole Bradford was 1-2 with a double, Maher was 2-3 with two singles and Foster was 1-2 with a double.
