Gerald Wayne White
— April 23, 1946 – Aug. 8, 2000
TEXAS – Services for Gerald Wayne White, 54, of Winnsboro, who died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, in a Tyler Hospital, were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 11, at Beaty Funeral Home with the Revs. Dwain goodson and Richard Brown officiating.
Burial was at the Lee Cemetery in Wood County.
Mr. White was born April 23, 1946 in Natchez.
He was a retired disabled veteran of the U.S. Army where his served as a sergeant during the Vietnam War. He was the former owner of Winnsboro Feed and Seed, a member of the VFW Post No. 8780 and a Nazarene.
Mr. White was preceded in death by his step mother, Marguarite Griffin White.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn White; his father, John Barney White; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Alan and Stacey White and John Barney White II; and three grandchildren, Josie White, Dakota Rushing and ShyAnne White.
Pallbearers were Matt Mabry, Josh Frederick, Matt Hammond, Cory Arburthnot, Robert Lynn and Steve Weems.
The family request memorials be made to the World War II Memorial, c/o Beaty Funeral Home.
Rosie Lee Neal
PORT GIBSON – Services for Rosie Lee Neal, 94, who died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Vicksburg, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Campbell Chapel Church with the Rev. J.P. Neal officiating.
Burial will be at the church cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., of Port Gibson.
Visitation is from 1 to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
She was a member and mother of Campbell Chapel Church and a member of the Baptist Aid.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Lee Smith of Port Gibson; two brothers, J.L. Perry of Ponnon, Calif. and Carl Lee Christian of Port Gibson; two sisters, Julia McGriggs and Betty Jean Carter of Port Gibson; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ernest Whitney
PORT GIBSON – Services for Ernest &uot;Sonny Boy&uot; Whitney, 91, who died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Christian Chapel Church with Elder T.E. Harris officiating.
Burial will be at the Wilson-Moore Family Cemetery in Port Gibson under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home, Inc.
Visitation is from 1 to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mr. Whitney was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Clara Whitney; his wife, Griff Ella Walker; a daughter, Dorothy Whitney; and two sons, Ernest Whitney Jr. and Baby Boy Whitney.
Survivors include two sons, John L. Whitney of St. Paul, Minn., and Charles Whitney of Indianapolis; six daughters, Rosie M. Sayles of Port Gibson, Faye Whitney, Clara Polk, Joann Jackson, Willie B. Whitney and Katie M. Whitney, all of Indianapolis; a brother, Robert Whitney of Sacramento, Calif.; a sister, Mary tarleton of Oakland; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

PORT GIBSON – Services for John I. Dave Jr., 57, who died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Eddie Walls officiating.
Burial will be at Thompson Memorial Garden Cemetery in Port Gibson under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home, Inc.
Visitation is from 1 to 6 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Frank C. Basile
–Sept. 28, 1930 – Aug. 12, 2000
Services for Frank C. Basile, 69, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at his son’s residence in Cottondale, Ala., will be at today at 4 p.m. at Laird Funeral Home with the Rev. Julius Roberts officiating.
Burial will beat Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 1:30 p.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
Mr. Basile was born Sept. 28, 1930 in New Orleans, the son of Anthony J. and Mary Albers Basile Sr.
He graduated from Opelouses High School in 1947 where he played football for four years. He was an U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He had been a resident of Natchez since 1974 and was past owner of Lickety Split and Minit-Man stores from 1975-1990.
Mr. Basile was preceded in death by his wife, Lawanda Jean Basile; three brothers, John T. Collins, Anthony J. Basile Jr. and Paul J. Basile Sr.; and one sister, Lucille Ham.
Survivors include a son, Frank C. Basile Jr. and his wife, Sylvia of Cottondale, Ala.; one granddaughter, Robyn Basile of Natchez; two sisters, Elaine Cannetella and Marie J. Basile, both of New Orleans; two sisters-in-law, Helen Basile and Euline Basile; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Jimmie Wilburn Goolsby
–Jan. 17, 1931 – Aug. 16, 2000
CENTREVILLE – Services for Jimmie Wilburn Goolsby, 69, of Centreville, who died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, at Field Memorial Hospital in Centreville, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Macedonia Methodist Church with the Rev. Don Russell officiating.
Burial will be at the church cemetery under the direction of Newman Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Goolsby was born Jan. 17, 1931, and was a native of Texas, a craftsman member of Pipeliner Local 798 and a member of Macedonia United Methodist Church.
Mr. Goolsby was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Billie Ruth Morton Goolsby of Centreville; three daughters and their husbands, Jennifer and Wayne Davis of Centreville, Sue Ellen and Wiley Cavin of Ferriday, La., and Alicia and Dustin Bankston of Summit; one son, Charles Edward and his wife, Rhonda Goolsby of Napa, Calif.; one sister, Tommie Boney of Baytown, Texas; one brother, Morris Goolsby of Pasadena, Texas; four grandsons, Wesley Sterling Jr., Christopher Sterling, Aaron Goolsby and Victor Goolsby; and one great-grandson, Bryce Bankston.
