The Huntington Hounds started off the season with a win Friday night for new head coach Gerald Reeves. The Hounds beat Glenbrook 23-8 with what Reeves described as &uot;super good defense.&uot;

&uot;We’re glad to win the opener,&uot; he said. &uot;We got some good running from our quarterbacks and backs.&uot;

The ground attack worked well for Reeves in the first quarter as the hounds put up 16 points.

Barret Arthur scored twice in the quarter. One touchdown came from six yards out and the second touchdown came on a 27-yard run. Arthur also tacked on a two-point conversion.

Huntington pushed Glenbrook over their own goal line for a safety in the first quarter.

The Hounds got their last touchdown of the game in the third quarter on another run from Arthur, this time from the 20 yard line.

Glenbrook’s only score of the night came in the fourth quarter.

Arthur carried the ball 13 times for 125 yards for Huntington and attempted two passes.

Luke Davis was the top Hound ground gainer with 150 yards on 20 carries.

Davis also had the only Hound completion of the night

Kenneth Clayton added 24 yards on five carries. Jordan Owens caught one pass for 33 yards.

For Glenbrook, Andy Coates carried the ball four times for five yards. Quarterback Kyle Lewis was 4-2 for 23 yards. The defense also shined for Huntington, holding Glenbrook to only 40 total yards

The Hounds fought through 15 penalties which cost them 125 yards.

Huntington’s next game is against Pine Hills at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
