VIDALIA, La. — When Winnsboro and Vidalia meet today at 7 p.m., the competing head coaches will have more than 60 years of combined coaching experience.

&uot;Coach Easterling and I have been in it a long time,&uot; said Vidalia head coach Dee Faircloth. &uot;It ought to be a slobberknocker.&uot;

Faircloth said today’s game is a rivalry game, not because of the proximity of the schools or district alignment, but because of the coaches.

&uot;There is nobody I would rather beat than him and there is nobody he would rather beat than me,&uot; Faircloth said. &uot;That’s the way it is with old friends.&uot;

After the first game of the season, the Vikings (2-0) were looking for offense. They found it in the second game, scoring 38 points.

But they allowed 28 points in that game and are now looking for defense, Faircloth said.

And to find that defense, Faircloth said he has made some changes.

&uot;We changed up the defense some, not the scheme but the personnel,&uot; Faircloth said. &uot;We believe in our scheme, we just have got to get the people in the right spots.&uot;

Northeast at Ferriday

The Ferriday Trojans (2-0) host the Northeast Vikings at 7 p.m. today.

The Trojans are fresh off a 46-0 victory over the Jefferson County Tigers in which running back Corey Gordon ran for 210 yards and four touchdowns on 23 carries.

Even so, Ferriday head coach James McFarland classified his team as a defensive one. Last week, they held the Tigers to only 97 total yards.
