Consolidation means more government

This is really a no-brainer if you live in Adams County (not in the City of Natchez) that it would be stupid on my part to want consolidation.

First I want to add that this is my third time writing on this subject. Politicians try to grab a handle to something like consolidation to use as a tool just find a way to tax the people more.

Consolidation would be putting more government on more people, and to annex people into the City of Natchez to help pay the debts that were made by their past and present government. They are planning on future spending of money they don’t have. I blame the citizens of Natchez for letting their officials put them in that spot, without any complaining about spending on the convention center, visitors center (the public restroom), the EDA as just a few. I guess it may have been a 100 percent in the city was for it, but I recall not!

I, as my county comrades, don’t care to pay the City of Natchez debts. I feel if you play golf or tennis you should pay for it, not me.

It shouldn’t take taxpayers money paying thousands of dollars to have surveys to tell them what is wrong with Adams County. I feel our own people know what the problems and the solutions are but are hesitant to do something about them!

This most recent survey said that we are going to lose 50 people per month through 2014 in Adams County. If I was an official, I would be very alarmed and would be taking a inventory of what is broke and fix it ASAP.

We need less government, ordinances and mostly lower taxes. Also, there can’t be the same size county and city government as was in the past when we had all the plants running, people, oilfield money, local businesses, and etc.

Some 10 to 15 years ago the industries paid the large bulk of taxes. But that isn’t there any more. Simply everything has to be downsized including jobs, salaries, services, utilities, the fleet of vehicles, gas use and taxes. Until these officials get real they will never balance a budget without crying for higher taxes!

If Rep. Sam Mims and Sen. Bob Dearing want to do something good for all Mississippi people to make taxes fair to all people, they would form and pass a bill in the legislature for real property disclosure, but they wouldn’t be very popular with the rich and well to do. So, show us you are leaders and not followers!
