HARRISONBURG, La. — Not many people expected the Cathedral Lady Green Wave to make it to the girls’ championship game of the Harrisonburg Tournament.
But once they did get there, they ran into a buzzsaw in the form of the Class 3A Buckeye Lady Panthers Saturday afternoon. With Dani Carter and Kristen Dawvart scoring 13 points apiece, Buckeye rolled to a 64-35 win over Cathedral.
Cathedral never had a chance against a Buckeye team that has lost just one game so far this season. The Lady Panthers jumped out to an 18-7 lead at the end of the first quarter and the Lady Green Wave were unable to make a game of it.
Ana Perry, one of Cathedral’s leading scorers, was held to just four points. Ginny Daggett led the Lady Green Wave with seven points.
