NATCHEZ — The metal building for the Magnolia Bluffs Casino is scheduled to be complete in two weeks, and construction is ongoing in anticipation of the casino’s December opening.
Project Manager Dennis McEvoy of FoxCor Construction said the roof cap installation is the last major piece for the building, as well as flashing.
McEvoy said crews have begun installing Sheetrock in the interior of the casino, and the bathrooms are framed and being Sheetrocked. A sample of the cypress siding, which is to cover the exterior of the building, has also been installed.
Crews were working last week to finish the last major concrete pour for the 307-space parking garage, McEvoy said. He said the major structure of the garage will be completed Wednesday morning.
The south parking lot, which will also serve the proposed public park near the casino, is complete and the first half of the driveway at the bottom of Roth Hill Road has been poured, McEvoy said.
The first two truck-loads of quarry and cermanic tile for the casino, McEvoy said, have also arrived at the site.
Approximately 90 percent of the ductwork for the casino is complete, and the main switch gear and main transformer are set up, McEvoy said.
The 43,000-square-foot casino will have 601 slot machines, 12 table games, a center bar with 20 poker games, two restaurants and a player’s club.
An outdoor deck will wrap around the sides and back of the casino and will feature a seating area and a fire pit.
The opening date for the casino is scheduled for Dec. 21.
