Rams use ground attack to trample Pine Hills

WOODVILLE – Wilkinson County Christian Academy racked up 384 of its 440 yards on the ground and its defense held Pine Hills to 94 total yards as the Rams routed the Wildcats 30-0 Friday night at Woodville.
Stephens McVea led WCCA (3-5) in rushing with 301 yards on 27 carries and three touchdowns and in receiving with one catch for 33 yards and a touchdown.
Brandon Jensen completed three of five passes for 56 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
Jensen’s touchdown pass to McVea in the first quarter started the scoring spree for the Rams.
McVea then scored on a two-yard run later in the quarter. Shannon Day added the two-point conversion.
McVea added an 83-yard scoring run in the second quarter and on an 18-yard run in the fourth quarter.
Defensively, Brandon Farrar led the Rams with 11 tackles, followed by J.R. Whitaker with eight and Cody Pace with six.
Pine Hills quarterback Jonathan Honea had anything but a solid performance, completing only four of 19 passes for 48 yards with two interceptions and had 19 yards rushing.
WCCA travels to Franklinton, Louisiana for a district matchup with Bowling Green next Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Pine Hills travels to Ferriday to take on the Huntington Hounds next Friday at 7:30 p.m.
