Centreville Academy trounces ASC, 56-0

CENTREVILLE — Three Centreville Academy running backs combined for 203 yards and four touchdowns as the Tigers had no problem defeating the Amite School Center Rebels 56-0 Friday night.

Chase Hughes led Centreville’s ground game with 86 yards and one touchdown on six carries. Randy Bell had two carries for 54 yards and one touchdown, and Colton Terrell had touchdown runs of 14 and 39 yards in his two carries — all in the first quarter.

Casey Haygood completed two of three passes for 32 yards, including a 28-yard touchdown pass to Colby Shaw during Centreville’s 35-point first quarter. Brock Andrus was a perfect 8-for-8 on extra points in the game.

The Tigers finished with 336 yards of total offense, did not punt at all, turned the ball over just once and had just three penalties for 20 yards. The Tigers’ defense limited Amite School Center to seven first downs and 128 yards of total offense.

Centreville Academy (1-0) plays at Trinity Episcopal next Friday. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
