In a battle of Rebels versus Rebels, Adams County Christian School will take on Central Private in an MPSA District 4-3A contest at 7 p.m. Friday in Baker, La.

This game will also determine which teams finish third and fourth place in the district.

ACCS is 2-7 overall and 0-2 in district play while Central Private is still winless on the season at 0-9, 0-2.

The local Rebels are coming off a 20-19 win over Class 2A Columbia Academy last Friday while Central Private came up short against Class A Trinity, losing 21-19.

&uot;This is probably the best week of practice we’ve had since the start of the season,&uot; said ACCS head coach Bo Swilley. &uot;The kids are real upbeat.&uot;

Swilley said Central Private is a better team than its record indicates.

&uot;I’ve watched them play Centreville and Centreville had some problems running the ball,&uot; he said. &uot;They play good as a unit.&uot;

Central Private runs out of the wishbone offense, Swilley said. He then added that he doesn’t know what ACCS’s defense will be in store for.

&uot;One game they’ll line up and throw the ball a lot and the next game they run for over 300 yards,&uot; Swilley said.

&uot;Their running back and quarterback are good athletes and they have a fair line up front,&uot; he said.

Swilley added that Central Private moves the ball a lot but has had problems scoring, something he said he hopes doesn’t change Friday night.

Defensively, Central Private will use either a 5-2 or a 4-4 front, Swilley said.

&uot;They’re not extremely big,&uot; he said. &uot;They have tall, lanky ends. They try to out-quick you up front. They also have good, average linebackers.&uot;

Swilley is looking for another solid performance from Jason Rollins and Russ Marks.

&uot;They ran the ball well last week and they need to do the game again this week,&uot; he said. &uot;We also need to throw and catch the ball.

&uot;Defensively, we’ve got to do a better job stopping people. We did a better job of that in the second half last week,&uot; he added.
