Huntington wasn’t supposed to make the playoffs.
After several losing seasons, many seasons without a trip to the post-season, and a third new head coach in three years, this was supposed to be yet another rebuilding year for the Hounds.
Apparently no one told them.
With Friday’s 25-15 win over the Trinity Saints, the Hounds are headed into the playoffs.
&uot;Oh, I’m excited,&uot; said Huntingon defensive back Todd Iverstine. &uot;It’s been a while.&uot;
&uot;This is the first time this team has been to the playoffs in a while,&uot; head coach Gerald Reeves added. &uot;It’s almost unheard of.&uot;
Reeves was unsure of who his team will face in the first round of the post-season.
&uot;I’ve heard people say Tri-County,&uot; Reeves said, referring to the Flora team. &uot;They called earlier this week and wanted to exchange films, and I told them to wait until about 10 o’clock tonight. We might not have been the guys.&uot;
The Hounds finished the season as the MPSA District 5-A runners-up, finishing second to Amite School Center.&t;
